Questions
What day is my bin collected?
It depends on your street, not just the town. Enter your postcode in the Bins.Ren app to see the grey, blue, green and brown calendar for that address in Renfrewshire or East Renfrewshire.
Which councils does Bins.Ren cover?
Both. Renfrewshire (Paisley, Renfrew, Erskine, Johnstone, Bishopton, Houston, Bridge of Weir, Kilbarchan, Linwood, Lochwinnoch) and East Renfrewshire (Newton Mearns, Giffnock, Clarkston, Barrhead, Thornliebank, Busby, Eaglesham, Neilston, Netherlee, Stamperland, Waterfoot and Uplawmoor).
How do the two councils differ?
Bin colours are the same (grey general waste, blue paper and card, green recycling, brown food and garden) but the collection weeks are not. East Renfrewshire usually runs grey, blue and green every three weeks, food waste weekly, and garden waste on the brown bin with a permit. The app shows the calendar for your address.
What do the bin colours mean?
Grey is general waste. Blue is paper and cardboard. Green is plastics, cans and glass. Brown is food waste and garden waste where allowed (East Renfrewshire garden waste needs a permit).
Can I get a reminder the night before bin day?
Yes. Enable notifications in the app. Premium users get a reminder the evening before collection.
How do I report a missed bin?
Use the official form for your council. Renfrewshire collections should be reported within 48 hours via Renfrewshire Council. East Renfrewshire uses East Renfrewshire Council. The app can open the right page.
Is the app free?
Yes. Free on the App Store and Google Play. Premium removes ads.
